GLOBAL SOUL: Vote Online For OMAR – “Best R&B / Soul ACT” At The 2011 MOBO Awards

(The Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards)

Omar sent us an email asking to spread the word about his nomination for “Best R&B / Soul ACT” at the 2011 MOBO in Glasgow, Scotland. After registering and then seeing the nominees, I had to hit Wikipedia to refresh my memory on what this award show was about.

Here’s what Wikipedia says:

The Music Of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards was established in 1996 by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell to recognise and celebrate artists who are black and create ‘black’ music. The MOBO Awards is the first Black awards show in Europe.

For those of you who have seen “FunkJazz Kafé: Diary Of A Decade”, this is an example of what we’re talking about in the movie. Then I ran into this video at the MOBO from last year. PlanB won over Sade? Really?

On top of that, there’s a new youtube discovery name Mike Hough who was interviewed at the announcement of the 2011 MOBO nominees and they give some interesting background info on the MOBO awards. It seems that the press has been favoring Adele to win. CLICK HERE TO SEE VIDEO

She’s good but not a better ACT (this year) than Omar. The event is on October 5, 2011 so let’s help. Vote now and let’s celebrate a well deserving champion of soul music and culture.
